BMW Driver Charged Months After Motorcyclist Killed In Wrong-Way Virginia Crash: Police

Months after a 32-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash, a BMW driver has been arrested, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Michael Burghardt has been charged with manslaughter and felony hit-and-run in connection to the fatal incident that that claimed the life of Woodbridge resident Cornell Parish III in May.

Officers from the Fairfax County Police Department were called shortly after 5:15 a.m. on May 12, where there was a report of a crash involving a motorcyclist who was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Investigators say that detectives determined that the Springfield resident was driving a 2022 BMW M440i northbound in the southbound lanes of Road near Delong Drive when he struck Parish.

Burghardt was arrested and charged this week. He's he's being held without bond.
